Some listening in to learn more about the history of radio broadcasting here in Aotearoa.
The most interesting thing I took from this series of podcasts is that this new technology drew communities together. From the beginnings of radio broadcasting, the small regional radio stations were created, literally, by grassroots communities. These radio stations were by the people and for the people, it seemed as though these radio stations became community hubs, gathering and serving people in their communities.
My experience in being invited to participate in Beagle Radio, my local community station, I also connected with a community, and a platform for my children and their friends to host their own radio show.
